Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica

Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica (ABBS) is a scientific journal publishing monthly research papers, short communications and minireviews in biochemistry, molecular biology and biophysics. Research papers and short communications should report original work not published or considered for publication elsewhere. Minireviews should provide a concise introduction to the subject matter to inform the readers of the latest developments in a certain area.
Submission of manuscripts Manuscripts should be written in English and submitted to the following address:

Initial submission Initial submission should include:
1. one original manuscript and one copy,
2. an electronic copy on a floppy disk and an e-mail attaching the original manuscript,
3. a declaration on submitting the manuscript with the signatures of all authors,
4. a copyright license statement (>>download)
5. a cover letter.
Submission of revised manuscript The submission should include:
1. one revised manuscript and one copy,
2. the manuscript sent back by the editorial office,
3. a letter to answer reviewers¡¯ questions,
4. an agreement on transferring the copyright to the Editorial Office with corresponding author¡¯s signature,
5. an electronic copy on a floppy disk and an e-mail attaching the revised manuscript,
6. a cover letter.
Format of manuscript The manuscript should be printed on A4 paper with double spacing. The text is typed in a font size of twelve points. The locations of figures and tables in the text should be indicated. Research paper should be arranged in the following order: (1) title, author(s), and institution(s); (2) running title; (3) abstract; (4) introduction; (5) experimental procedures; (6) results; (7) discussion; (8) references; (9) footnote; (10) figure legends; (11) tables; (12) figures. Title The title should be short and informative, less than 20 words, and without non-standard acronyms or abbreviations.
Title page The title page should contain names of all authors with complete mailing addresses, and detailed information of the corresponding author: (1) name, (2) full address, (3) telephone and fax numbers, and (4) e-mail address. Running title Running title should be less than 60 characters. Abstract The abstract should describe clearly the aim and major findings. It must not exceed 250 words.
Key words Less than 5 key words should be listed below the abstract. Introduction Basic principles of research, background, earlier related work and the purpose of the present studies should be described in the introduction. Experimental procedures Experimental procedures should be brief but complete enough to be repeated, procedures published previously should be cited in references.
Results The results are best presented in figures and tables with suitable description in the text.
Discussion The discussion should be concise (no more than three pages) and focus on the interpretation of the results. References The references should be numbered consecutively in the order of appearance in the manuscript and are cited in the text by number. In a reference of many authors, only the first 7 authors are listed, followed by "et al." Journal names are abbreviated. References should be in the following style.

Footnote A footnote at the bottom of front page under a line of 3.5 cm can include (1) source of grants, (2) present address of leaving author(s) if any, and (3) abbreviations used in the text.
Tables and figures Tables should have titles and a legend with experimental detail. Each column in a table must have a heading, and abbreviations should be defined in the legend. Figures should have titles and legends printed in a separate section of the manuscript. The figure size should beless than 8 cm ¡Á 25 cm or 16 cm ¡Á 25 cm. Authors are advised to put original figures or photos in a separate envelope with the ordinal numbers and orientations of figures marked on the back.
Fees The publishing fee of an accepted manuscript will be 30 USD per page. The page printed in color will be additionally charged for 80 to 200 USD according to the physical circumstances.
